If the NK era didn’t inspire and pave the way for bitches then I don’t know what did. With every move female rappers of today make, you see a bit or more of Kim. Azealia herself and her whole image reminds me of Kim in the late 90s and early 2000s. What would Nicki Minaj be if it wasn’t for Kim breaking fashion barriers for future female rappers? Everything these girls do ride on what Lil’ Kim has already done years ago. The rawness of Kim’s style and image make this my favorite era.

When the beat drops, you may subconsciously begin dancing in sync with it. With it being one of Kim’s most lyrical songs, she talks about being the baddest, pays homage to Big, and states how she’s ‘more nigga’ than Junior MAFIA. The song is perfection. ‘Spell Check’ declares Kimmy a genius.

The Notorious KIM

I remember being 5/6 years old and my mom blasting The Notorious KIM in the car. Many of the tracks are songs that I can relate to. The production is amazing. The lyrics are grade A. Overall, the album puts you in a ‘bad bitch’ mood that you won’t be able to get out of for a while.

NK was/is so ahead of its time. Many of the songs such as ‘Single Black Female,’ and ‘Aunt Dot’ could have been released today because they apply to Kim’s life. It also set the stage for a new era for female rap. I know girls wanted to be Kim before but with the release of her sophomore album, the obsession became real. Even if you aren’t a fan, something on this album will please you.
